Screw buying leftovers from the yanks. Either buy new or we develop our own rolling stock. Maybe import an Alstom loco from Europe to be certified here
ALP-46 and ALP-45DP are both cousins of the Adtranz/Bombardier/Alstom Traxx family, as ACS-64 / Charger is of Eurosprinter / Vectron. So the only North American locos presently being made are either actually European built (Alstom) or European design origin (Siemens)

From LinkedIn, confrimation that the F59's got more than a repaint.

Revitalizing a Classic: ONTC + Metrolinx Partnership

Earlier last year, Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) and Metrolinx joined forces to modernize some of the oldest locomotives in our fleet—the iconic F59s, which have been serving the Greater Toronto Area since the mid 1990’s.
After 35 years of reliable service, these locomotives are getting a well-deserved upgrade. The overhaul includes rebuilt main engines and a new OEM-standard Em2000 microprocessor control system, designed to boost performance and improve emissions. The first F59 will be tested in Northern Ontario shortly, and yes, they’ll be rolling back into service in the coming months with a fresh new livery to match their renewed capabilities.

558 has had the reporting mark "GOTX" added underneath the numbers on its sides.

Possibly a sign it might be getting sent to North Bay for refurbishment? (since as far as I know it was only repainted so far)

Someone asked about this a while back: the new MCI coaches have an exterior verbal warning, along with a strobe light, when making a turn.
