This whole thing looks quite ambitious.
So I guess this will be the first phase, and will be built on the corner of Queenston and Centennial - with the front of the building facing Centennial.
I like what I'm seeing so far.

Surprise! How far of a walk is it to Confederation GO?

It's between a 15-20 minute walk.

I am liking the rounded corner there, and yes some nice brick design patterning :)

And yes this is QUITE an ambitious project

I am also loving the "central park" vibe in the middle. Also the trees on the top floor - I've always thought that a very cool idea! Although I don't know if they are still doing that or if that was just to make things look "pretty" in the main overall drawing. I always thought it would be a brilliant idea to essentially "reclaim" the rooftops for nature, so if you looked from above down below it would just look like nature bisected by roads.

Also where is the bus station going in this design? Is it still in the same spot?

Future generations will mock ours for terminating the LRT at Eastgate Square, rather than running it another 1.5km north to terminate at the Confederation Go Station. Imagine the difference for the hundreds of people living in this building between taking a train one stop to get to a train (towards Toronto or Grimsby/ St Catharines/ Niagara Falls) versus walking 1500m or taking HSR. Hopefully Hamilton can build that connection as a modest phase 2!

Confederation has like 7 trains a day lol. It's not as big of a connection as you make it out to be.

I do think it makes sense as a future connection potentially since Centennial being so wide will keep the price lower, but I think an extension West from McMaster to University plaza or Dundas would actually be more useful.

There aren't actually that many connections that would benefit from LRT going back Eastgate to Confederation outside a few people making the trip to Niagara and maybe catching a bus from Confederation, but with Eastgate becoming a high density transit hub, it makes more sense for buses travelling to/from Confederation to stop at the existing planned LRT terminus at these proposed buildings.

I fully expect that will be different a generation from now when stations in Grimsby and Beamsville are complete. Lots of Grimsby-dwellers come to work in Hamilton, Hamiltonians go to school at Brock, or St. Catharine's residents want to visit family near Gage Park, etc. The difference for those people in making their commute by two trains with one transfer rather than adding a 1.5km bus connection in between two existing train stops is worth prioritizing a connection.
