Having a proper, grand, Union Station contributes so much to Toronto as a city. Not perfect, but we'd be way worse off if we got Penn Station'd. Next, let's bring Summerhill / North Toronto Station back to the use God intended for it: rail, not a liquor shop.

Agreed.

Hey! That's a great booze barn! I love the tasting tower!

I'm not opposed to a mid-town line......but lets not diss the LCBO here!

I love the contrast between the beautiful headhouse building and the ugly mess that is the trainshed. Like we're so close to a truly beautiful train station but nope.

The Station Building was designed to be beautiful (and still is, or is again since the reno); the train shed was designed to be utilitarian (and is less so now as the platforms are too narrow and the access stairs poor) and it has some historic features that really should be retained. I agree the shed/platforms could be better but I actually like the transition from utilitarian to decorative. It is just a pity that most arriving travellers are not exposed to the Great Hall as the bulk of them go to subway or exit via the PATH.

We could install an IKEA style layout with giant arrows on the floor to follow as people are taken through a maze-like visit of the Station's numerous features, exiting through a new Marketplace and then cash registers facing the Front Street doors. Beats me why Osmington hasn't already done that! I'd also like to see the Front West Moat turned into a ball pit.

That's kind of a blessing. The Via boarding process is so terrible that if you added the rush of subway foot traffic, it would be a gigantic mess.
