Toronto Exhibition Hotel + Venue | 112m | 32s | Harlo | Populous

Filling up the Exhibition Grounds is nice, and I really like the landscaping around the old Stanley Barracks, but at the same time actively watching this go through The Cheapening in real time with every new render is very funny.

Soon it'll be a glass/concrete box.
While I absolutely agree that this design is being valued engineered to death with each new render, upon comparison of V1, V2, and the current V3, I do think that V3 looks the most cohesive with respect to the existing Hotel X and the barracks next door.

Would I like a bold landmark venue for this location? Yes.

Do I think the current V3 fits well in the context of its location? Regrettably, yes.

Could a better architect than one Toronto is willing to pay for bridge these two realities? Certainly, but it's not gonna happen.

The angular limestone facade feels in line with what's already there; it's contemporary while also paying respect to the proximity of a heritage site. While it is boring, it does make sense for this site from a design standpoint -- moreso than the previous two versions did.
