Right, but you can't just dump shit in the lake. Scope would likely be removal of existing abutments and dockwalls, cleanup and dredging of the channel, bulk fill, paving and landscaping, and any environmental / species habitat remediation / replanting. Do a quick dimension check on the channel as it exists today. $5.5M for a bridge is cheap.

That smell at Cherry and the rail bridge is very strange. It seems to me like a diesel fueling station. There must be some active or former underground tanks in that location. Something is not right there.

Yeah to me what's so weird is that exact smell hasn't changed since 1987, when I first noticed it. I thought it used to smell like creosote soaked railway ties. But maybe it's fuel.
