Toronto Sherbourne Common, Canada's Sugar Beach, and the Water's Edge Promenade | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | Teeple Architects

Parks has been pruning the trees along the waterfront promenade going east from Sugar Beach and has 'started to "top" the many dead and dying trees. I assume they will pull these 'stumps' out in the spring and replant (but, based on their leisurely approach to tree planting, I would not guarantee it will be THIS Spring!)

The Detailed Docs for the 2026 budget are now public, and I am carrying out my annual perusal.

This item seemed apt for this thread: (From the Waterfront Revitalization Initiative, here) :

Could this be for the continuation eastward on the EAST side of Parliament Street Slip and leading to the new pedestrian/cycling bridge???
wasn't the pedestrian bridge supposed to open in 2026? I'm not sure how anyone will be able to get to it given all the constructions happening in the area over the next decade

If they extend the promenade around the rest of the Slip, it should be fine. I think the bridge construction may START in 2026 but doubt it will actually open before 2027. They also need to finish the work on 'the island' at the south side of the new bridge - though WT seem to be doing some work there now.

Keating Channel Bridge in the 2026 budget:

The 6.9M is this year, 1.1M in 2027.

That would read as landscaping and/or close-out in 2027. Slim chance of late 2026 opening, spring/early summer '27 more likely.

I believe 2027, or perhaps late 2026. It has its own line-item in the document @Northern Light linked to that would suggest the same:

Edit: just saw @Northern Light scooped me!

Based on that, my guess is that the "Phase 2 Water's Edge Promenade" work in 2028 involves the continuation of the promenade past the bridge along the Keating Channel for the eventual build-out of the 3C site.

^Thanks! WT is working towards an early summer 2026 opening of the parks west of Cherry and you can see the promenade basically finished on the west facing wall.
