It was the most fun I've had since I started going out for club music ~1yr ago. I forgot to bring ear plugs (big mistake), so I left at 3am or so once my ear started hurting and I wasn't into the music anymore. It was already half empty at that point, so I coudl've parked at Rebel itself. Taxi drivers were hustling LOL ($50 for a 20 minute walk gtfoh). Getting inside took a long time. 20+ minutes or so and that's if you queue up in line at 10pm. 11:11pm is when the opener got good, but when I left my spot around that time I lost my spot. My last spot was closer to the speakers than before because it's easier to move up from the left. Drinks (can) were $13.50, served by hot bartenders. There's enough "eye-candy" at Rebel for them to charge those prices (thankfully CAD and not USD), but lol I'd only come here for an artist I actually track. I had personal space, so not as dense as DPRTMNT was on the 19th. Never seen DPRTMNT so packed, seems like people have adopted a spend everything they have mentality.

Man, I first saw Joel in 2008 for a secret Random Album Title party at an after hours in a [definitely didn't meet fire code] basement in Chinatown. Different era, takes me back...

Did he have the mau5head then?
My first time was 2007 in The Orange Room @ The Guvernment Anniversary party. Just Joel up there with no mau5 gear, but you can't even tell because of how dark the video is🤣 I'm not even sure he had the mau5 branding other than the name yet.

He had started wearing it when prudent, but the low ceilings and aforementioned fire code issues meant he wasn't wearing it that particular night.
