^Yes. Apparently there are very ambitious plans for Seneca as well as the aeronautics campus. And the Hangar has had inquiries from foreign universities about a campus in part of it. 🤞🤔

Are the large former Bombardier hangars still empty, and could they be used for a paddock area if the IndyCar race was moved to YZD?
I'm not sure if this rumour of them looking into other locations for the race has any substance. It seems to be originating more from Indianapolis, and I don't see any mention of it (at least not yet) in any Toronto media, so maybe it's just a negotiating ploy? I assume we'll find out something soon, as IndyCar will have to announce their 2026 schedule of races before much longer.

... the belief, according to multiple sources, is the race is likely to see a venue swap for 2026 from Exhibition Place ...
The most likely option to hold the race remains within Toronto’s city limits, though. That spot? The now-defunct Downsview Airport ...
btw, Live Nation Entertainment, who operate the music stadium at YZD, is 35% owned by Liberty Media, owners of Formula One Group.
But it's doubtful that they would want another F1 race in Canada after just renewing the arrangement for Montreal to 2035.

Several have been leased and are being used as film studios.

It looks like there's also a Toronto Oktoberfest, ... apparently moved to the inside of a hangar there from a big tent-like thing at Fort York last year ...
And now cancelled for 2025 because of "funding issues", like so many other festivals.

First phase of this project is expected to start construction next year

From Linkedin (from 2 weeks ago):

"Construction has begun at YZD. YZD has officially transitioned from planning to early works construction. Equivalent to 185 downtown city blocks, this 370-acre project is the largest urban redevelopment project in North America. This first phase focuses on enabling infrastructure – stormwater systems, a dedicated construction access route and site preparation – laying the foundation required to deliver homes, create jobs and support long-term community growth. We have appointed Pomerleau to lead this initial phase of enabling works in YZD’s first neighbourhood, preparing the site for future stages of development."
