Northern Light
Superstar
Popped by the above noted event today with a friend.
It was on Spadina north of Dupont, up to Davenport, primarily.
Lots of vendors hawking every variation of garlic itself. (Russian, Siberian, Korean, Black etc. etc.)
But also lots of processed products (hot sauces, wines, mustards)
And several fresh food vendors doing garlic-themed items in one form or another from skewered meat to empanada to ice cream to popsicles.
Overall, it was very, very busy.....many vendors weren't organized properly for samples, with one person or two, trying to navigate queries, sales, and samples, lines were not well organized.
But I feel the event had strong interest and strong potential; just needs a bit more thought in how to move people properly.
We didn't sample much, a Black Garlic Mustard was nice, but not worth $15 a jar..........
My friend enjoyed the Miso-caramel garlic cookie. I was not so taken by it. I didn't get the Miso or the Garlic and the texture was a bit marshmallow 'ish for me.
The one clear winner...........a real oddity but well priced at $4.....was a Black Garlic Cupcake............ I didn't expect to like it.........but I did. (as did my friend).
The garlic vibe was clearly present in both the cake and the icing, but was not overpowering or gross.
@Towered would have appreciated the scenery, LOL
