In the United States, about 8% of incarcerated people are held in private prisons, which is the highest number in the world.

While many people believe slavery ended with the Civil War, the 1865 13th Amendment to the Constitution left an exception. It allows for slavery and involuntary servitude as punishment for crime. Some states or counties in the States want to bring back chain gangs, which is slavery.

I hope the Trump or independent voting Muslim-Americans in Michigan and other Harris-adverse abstainers are happy with themselves. Idiots.

The time for to kick all the Arabs out of the occupied territories was 1948 when all of Israeli's neighbours attacked the new state, not 2025. There's was certainly recent precedent for Israel to fall back on. After Germany's defeat in 1945, approximately 12-14 million ethnic Germans were expelled from Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary. After the partition of British India, approximately 14 million people were displaced, with Hindus and Sikhs moving to India and Muslims moving to Pakistan. When the renewed nation of Poland was once again independent in 1918, a significant number of Germans were expelled from Poland, particularly from regions like Posen and West Prussia. I can only assume that the Arabs were not pushed out of Israel's newly occupied territories and into Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon due to Israel not having the means. The motivation would have been there.

The sad thing about the Palestinians is that there is so much oil wealth in the region that the Saudis and others could have made Gaza the tourist and jewel region that Trump now claims he wants to pursue.

She would of won if they showed up to vote. Trump didn't make very many gains in this past election in comparison to previous one where Biden won. It's just those who showed up to vote Biden did not show up to to vote for Harris by a significant margin...

...so it's reasonable to declare that not showing up to vote for whatever reason was really a vote for Trump. /bleh

There's a much more recent example - when Croatia won its war of independence in 1995, they kicked out almost all of the Serbs from areas where the Serbs had previously been the majority.

Another blow for the environment. Paper straws work fine... and decompose far more quickly than plastic.

President Donald Trump says he is firing members of the board of trustees for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and naming himself chairman.

He also indicated that he would be dictating programming at one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions, specifically declaring that he would end events featuring performers in drag.

“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” Trump wrote on his social media website.

“We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!”

In a statement later on its website, the Kennedy Center said it was aware of Trump’s post. “We have received no official communications from the White House regarding changes to our board of trustees,” the statement said. “We are aware that some members of our board have received termination notices from the administration.”
