You've already been told to stop posting this type of stuff here.
PLEASE, PLEASE, stop. This isn't the type of forum for bus sightings. GO to CPTDB. You've already been asked to stop before and had a thread closed.
I come here specifically because I want to get away from the nonsense (for me...
What do you guys think? Good compromise for the cutting of Viva Purple? LOTS of people are bitching about the outright elimination of Viva Purple west of Yonge Street. I dont know what theyre thinking. There are sometimes fully seated loads during rush hour. And they just expect all those people...
Does anyone else think the carousel is such an abysmal waste of money? I mean, it sits there empty most of the time and they actually pay and staff a human being there to operate the thing.
Anyone else think we should partially privatize the thing by leasing it out or something?
My thinking...
For those questioning the safety of the Highway 7 bike lanes, there a two things going for these lanes that make them feel safe.
1) No Left Turns on Hwy 7 during through phase. No need to worry about a car turning out of nowhere from the other side and whacking you.
2) The signal phasing is...
There a huge patio going up today in front of cafe demetres.
This place is insanely busy. Doesn't matter if it's a weekday or weekend night...this place is always packed.
The patio extends across the entire front of the restaurant and is huge
Since were on the topic of naming standards.
Viva was originally supposed to be named after fruits. Viva Blueberry. Viva Orange. Viva Lime. etc. It was decided it would be a bad idea. I saw a whole marketing pamphlet which has since been removed from the internet.
Articulated buses are coming to Leslie St and Jane St YRT routes.
The articulated Viva buses purchased back in 2005 were planned to be retired this year. They have decided to take a majority of them and refurbish them for YRT-use, extending them an additional 3 years past their life expectancy.
They are installing poles to physically separate the bike lane from regular traffic on the Hwy 7 bike lanes in Markham. It is only on the WB side, between Town Centre and Rodick.
Long awaited.
Not sure if this is the right place to post.
DT Markham private message regarding the Carousel:
"Hi James. We're working on it. Our first year at the Pride of Canada has been a lot of experimentation to see how things would operate in various weather conditions, etc. The adjacent retail space across the Reflecting Pond/Skating Rink is...

The section of Highway 7 between Warden and Kennedy will feature a different bike lane design in which the bike lane is beside the sidewalk and is set behind...
I believe the raised bike lanes will also be used between Pine Valley and Jane as they are part of Hwy7 West Phase II.
I think they realized halfway through their VivaNext projects that the lanes they already put in weren't going to attract new riders. Although it sucks, at least they realized...
Don't know if this is new but it looks like they've decided to switch the bike lanes on Yonge and Bathurst/Centre/Highway 7 West *Phase 2 to raise bike lanes.
How expensive would it be to convert the other Highway 7 lanes to match this? Will they bother?
The Viva BRT line on Highway 7 is extremely slow. The problem with this line is the bus is plowing down a street that is just way too congested at peak times, not only along Highway 7, but most of the intersecting streets are heavy traffic streets.
I foresee the Yonge BRT to be much faster...
