New cars will still be designed for 6-car open gangway operations. I assume a similar set up as the BART trains.
I'm sure there's a lot of details to work out before signing off on anything. As there should be. Why design something when not knowing the full ask.
My wishkist, that will never...
Must be some reversed decision or community backlash? I remember some people talking as if the Pape bridge was close to being demolished.
Either way good news.
I mean , the biggest road block to trolleys would be the actual facilities.
I assume the overhead wires would be the same as what the streetcars use? Actually streetcars use panto, so no. But we do have the overhead department at TTC.
I remember David Miller was studying to bring back...

I think the benefits to having double end cars is a worthwhile investment. You save on not having loops. And everything doesn't have to happen at once. Double end cars, and as time goes on make the adjustments at the end of the line to accommodating them. By the time 30 years come around there...
You sure ION will get the same cars as they have now. They don't make them anymore. Unless Alstom reactivates production for such a small order. Would it be worth it?
Has ION sent out a RFP or some document stating this?
I agree.
WFH is an overall win-win. Employees, productivity, environmental, etc. But I suspect the need to stimulate business in the downtown and to justify office leases was the reason to end WFH.
I would stand behind the labour movement if they fought for WFH. Pocket lines and everything.
I don't see TTC fixing up older garages or making a downtown garage a priority.
But from a core operational need, it should be looked at. I get the lack of space downtown, but as mentioned , a multi level garage could potentially help with land use.
TTC also has situation where they lease too...
Believe it or not, even with one person operation, they are still required to put the train in emergency and cut the power.
But like you said, it's best to move on.
I don't expect you to see the fundamental difference.
As for how to cut the power while the train is moving, that tells me it's already going above your head.
Again your wrong Dan.
The first thing an operator is suppose do is cut the power. Theres a phone from there where they can call control.
If too traumatized, sure stay in cab. But procedure is cut power, first. Always assume the person is alive, and for emergency personnel to get down safely...
I have a family member was a subway operator. They don't have to stay in the cab. And I know they've had multiple jumpers over the years. Including being a chief supervisor.
They help with evacuations. But they are explicitly told not to go down to track level. Only exception is if they are...
Well, at least now it's doug that will have to answer for this , and any mess or delay as a result.
That's assuming the province as officially taken over both expressways by now?
