The cost difference between LRT and Subways in Toronto is 4.7x, Finch LRT per km compared to the Ontario Line per km, The Ontario line is using a lot of elevated sections and and GO right of way so most likely the difference is 5x+ to build a subway instead of an LRT. Finch West costs 3.7Billion...
In most other developed countries a project like this would be the priority of the federal, provincial and municipal governments, but here no one seems to care about it. It seems crazy that we are waiting for a non-profit organization (GTAA) to decide to proceed and to finance this.

So they have done 3 floors of cladding in the last year.
At this rate it will take them over 3 years to finish the cladding.
It's amazing how long it takes for anything to be built in this city.
Translink only has 1 sky
Translink only has one sky train expansion plan for the next 15 years after the current constructions are completed and that's to extend the Millennium Line to UBC, all other transit upgrades are BRTs
Priority BRT Corridors
I am glad city officials are the one taking much of the heat for this mess and not metrolinx.
They have had all this time to speed up rail transport in the city ie streetcars and have refused to. so it nice to seem them fumbling over themselves now that the public is fully aware of what they...
why the hell are they doing a study???
Just make the change then study it.
Maybe the city should have used all that time they were bitching at Metrolinx about an opening date they should have been studying TSP so that it would be implemented while test started.
Well Line 5 is their first line, i would say the learning are already seen on the Ontario Line construction.
namelly building the stations first since they take the longest time than after the TBM have gone through like on Line 5.
This change alone will save 2 years of construction
If it was pitched at current speeds, 15 to 30 minutes slower than the buses it replace, it would have never been approved as a transit project anywhere.
even 33 minutes is the same speed as the bus.
It seems like the opening of this line is in a perpetual 3 months away.
At least the West extension is visbile moving ahead at a good pace, still shocked it will not open until 2031
BMO field end zones have always been 2 yards shorter (4 Yards total) than league standard.
The CFL are changing the field size to 100 yards in 2027 from 110 yards now.
So it will mean a net change of 6 yards (5.5m) smaller field that can go into BMO than today
