    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Well to add to this, it is worth remembering the very first incarnation of Transit City in 2007 was literally just an expansion of the streetcar network. All the lines were supposed to use the same track gauge as the streetcars and use the at the time proposed Flexity Outlook LRV's. If I had to...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Genuine question... Does either the EC or FW have any Maintenance of Way vehicles like the subway and streetcar network does? It feels like that would be a massive omission from these lines (and another thing to add to the list of why Metrolinx is the worst thing to happen to transit in the GTA).

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I believe you are thinking of Baltimore's new trains. I believe they just purchased the same model that LA, and Miami did. Philly hasn't received their new ones yet and they have a modern-ish design although Atlanta's new trains are the nicest as far as new rolling stock in the US is concerned.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Colour? On my Subway? It's more likely then you think! I wonder if the TR's would get a re-paint in this livery when the go for their mid-life rebuilds in the 2030's.

I think it proves two other things. Metrolinx needs to be fully removed from the construction and planning process of transit lines since this is yet another example of them having no clue what they are doing. They used all of the same equipment as the Confederation Line in Ottawa even after...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I agree with all of this though I would keep the stop at Sloane/Bermondsey since its 1km from Wynford and 800m from Victoria Park so it would be in line with Line 2's stops spacing. That said Aga Kahn, and Lebovic are by far the worst offenders on the line. If it were up to me I would have also...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I don't think we should be using the Canada Line as an example considering it was intentionally underbuilt so it could open in time for the 2010 Olympics and overcrowding has been a persistent problem on the line ever since. Its cost per km looks nice on paper but it hides the reality that it...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

That's just Metrolinx's incompetence on display, after all they were the ones in charge of overseeing the construction of the line. Makes you wonder just what they are going to screw up with the Ontario Line.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Made a map showing the unbuilt "Toronto Eastern Railway". Originally this railway was proposed to run between Toronto and Oshawa, however when CNER inherited the route they expanded the scope of the project. CNER's proposal was to connect the TER with the Guelph and Woodbridge Interurbans and...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Well part of it is certainly the fact that the city insists on building subways the most expensive way possible. There are also no doubt other bureaucratic reasons and also the English speaking world in general can no longer build public transit for a reasonable cost anymore. That's not just me...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Made a new map for my upcoming video. This one is on West York Coach Lines which operated bus service between York, Etobicoke and Malton from 1932 to 1954. By the end of service the West York network was made up of 4 All-Day services with 2 Rush-Hour Services. The WESTMOUNT and SWANSEA also had...

Even Jane Street would be a better place since its right next to the yard. Tobermory makes no sense at all for a crew change location.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Welcome to the world of "value engineering". The government will spare every expense possible or a specific subset of voters will blow a gasket. From shelters that lack indoor space, to perpetual promises of platform doors, to always picking the lowest bidder and never learning from that...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This is certainly a problem. Metrolinx likes the produce grand plans but they have no teeth because there is no legislation or political backing behind them. You can argue that Transit City was the last truly comprehensive plan this city had that actually had political backing behind it. While...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Yes that is true, I believe 1996 (or around there) was the proposed completion date for the Pape-Spadina Ave section which would have been in time for the '96 Summer Olympics which Toronto bid on and lost to Atlanta (kinda makes you wonder how that or the '08 failed bids affected the city's...
