I thought that the TTC putting up maps with line 5 on them meant it was a couple weeks from opening. If it's really not opening for a couple months+, then that was a really dumb move.
Once Doug Ford is gone, how many more of his fugly Ford spawn will be left to mess with Toronto politics? Feels like this city and province is cursed because of them.
I notice this in the videos too. The LRT will have a long straightaway (in its own ROW, of course) yet it's still being passed by the majority of cars that are sharing a lane. Line 5 seems to be even worse.
You can go to Berlin and see the dedicated ROW trams there easily outcompete road...
Yeah, it's misleading, especially Line 6 appearing as a subway when it's actually just three light rail trains in a trench coat.
Still happy to see the map up though, because it now seems like both lines are opening imminently.
It's not looking good for construction any time soon, unfortunately. The CDPQi is now saying that to make things more efficient, they won't build Griffintown station until they can start Bonaventure at the same time.
However, Bonaventure isn't even approved and funded yet. I think we know how...
The new REM extension looks like a hit, and the addition McGill and É-M stations are big improvements to downtown Montreal's transit network, with 2 east-west axes and 3 north-south axes running throughout. The biggest disappointment, however, is no Griffintown or Bonaventure stations in sight...
I agree - it's a slight increase to travel times to Bloor and Union, but it allows for way faster trips from St. Clair and Eglinton.
