    Transit Fantasy Maps

Really liking this map! A couple names might need a bit of tweaking Fashion (way outside of fashion district) - alternatives: Clarence Square (to the north) or City Place (to the south) Pape Village (for outsiders this might be too vague) alternative: Cosburn, Pape-Cosburn Dentonia Park -...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I know someone who works engineering at the seaway, and they tell me that Canadian maritime law gives precedence to ships over trains, which is a partial reason why there's so few slots that CN is willing to hand over to GO/Metrolinx. I honestly thing doubling the capacity at the chokepoint...

Unfortunately the terrain you ploughing through is super steep(like the start of the niagara escarpment steep), and would definitely drive up the cost of a tunnel in that location. It would also require to start further back for it to not be past the 4% grade. I would actually recommend a "St...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I've occasionally seen GO trains parked up in stoney creek, which I think is the last spot they could park them cause its single track from Grimsby to Jordan harbour, and then there's sort of a small yard in Merritton (South East St. Catharines). All I know is they probably don't have enough...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Would it be possible to use the alignment of the Mascouche Line in Montreal Nord to connect the REM to the REM de L'Est? It might take some of the load of new passengers straight to downtown.

    Intercity Bus Services

Ok but ridership can be built. Example: Last year they introduced the 18K from Aldershot to Brock University via Hamilton, and when it started, it was eeeempty. But after a year of service, it is packed, even in the middle of the day. So there was definitely demand for commutes from Hamilton...

    Intercity Bus Services

Oh, I remember it. I'm just wondering if it'll make a permanent comeback, rather than what did happen.

    Intercity Bus Services

Any chance that any of these companies will permanently offer Kitchener to Hamilton service? Or what sorcery do we have to perform to make Metrolinx do it?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think you are absolutely right about wanting to avoid that nightmare. Keep in mind that Metrolinx also has an example in Ottawa of what happens when you rush and cut the corners, so they probably don't want Line 5 to be the next Confederation Line. The fact that they haven't announced a firm...

Tons of cities build lines "out of order", usually if they have pre-planned their systems. Santiago (where Line 5 was built after 1 & 2) and Vienna (who still doesn't have a line 5, despite a Line 6) come to mind

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Why can't Metrolinx negotiate with CP to use the Canpa and Midtown Subs to divert around the Ex during construction? Is this feasible? Because if not, they might just break the most profitable GO line for years to come.

Needs a Hamilton-Kitchener Connection, but otherwise amazing!

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

I'm curious why only to York Street, but nothing on the east side of Church St. Won't they need the Queen St. ROW up to Sherbourne or Berkeley St?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Can't wait for the weekday schedule to have at least the weekend frequency. Well over 100 ppl wanting to go to Niagara at 11 am on a Wednesday to me indicates latent demand

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

In the report, the council is leaning toward the at-grade solution for Kennedy. Why not reuse the RT platforms , and bridge over the rail corridor? Is there a grade or height limitation preventing this from being feasible, or is it just finance?
