Grade separation would only benefit GO/ONR/VIA as CN only runs east/west across it. It would also be much more complex than Davenport as CN needs the top two diverging tracks to connect north with the Bala. There's no point as the tracks immediately north would still be CN-owned with little room...
Uh oh... that second fin to the right of the corner on the first setback floor is in the wrong spot... gonna bug me forever if it stays like that. Nice shots!
I rode it the other weekend up to Mt Dennis to try out Line 5 and my train sounded/felt like it was about to derail. It seemed to be a train problem, not a track one, as it hunted and vibrated exponentially harder as we picked up speed. I could see panels shaking inside the train and it felt...
To be honest the Eglinton-Yonge transfer in particular is much more painless than I expected without far horizontal/vertical distances to travel between lines (unlike Cedarvale), although the top of the escalators on the Line 1 platform gets pretty crowded.
The optimist in me is inclined to believe this. I also noticed a large amount of wooden ties and tie plates delivered along the expanded ROW both north and south of Eglinton after riding today.
Have you actually ridden the line yet? I have and nobody around me seemed to think it was "piecemeal". The general public doesn't care what kind of train it is, they just take it where they need to go. To them most of it is a subway with minute differences to Line 1 or 2. Asking anyone on the...
Toronto is looking less like a city and more like a sprawling metropolis these days, which I'm all for. Pinnacle and One Bloor W have taken it to another level and Concord Sky will also have an immense effect rising above Aura. Exciting times!
Changing Line 6 to a streetcar line on the maps would actually be to the detriment of riders, as all the individual stop names would be removed in line with the other 5xx routes. Also the average Torontonian or tourist cares much less than you think they do about the specifics of the train they...
Hit the nail on the head, dude is chasing his own tail. "Constructive feedback" and "accountability" isn't writing off North American rail manufacturing as a whole because you can't figure out how to open a bilevel door.
They have also made it clear multiple times that plans can and do change, and seem to be figuring it out as they go along, main examples being the addition of a 106th floor and, later, a full restaurant out of thin air.
I would be inclined to agree here, forcing a small trickle of cars wishing to turn left at Eg/Leslie to plan alternate and slightly less convenient routes is 100% a worthy payoff for extending subway-like service to Don Mills. A pedestrian crossing could be retained with full railway gates to...
