How are you so sure the province didn't know about this beforehand? I find that hard to believe... Although there were eclipse messages posted on the 401 electronic message boards that they also quickly reversed (about working from home) claiming they were not approved...
I'm seeing a pattern...
Are these decisions made with any data?
I'm just suprised I haven't seen anything than: we want to make trains faster, and we're reversing because the public doesn't like it.
So far I've seen that (hardly) faster is about a couple of minutes as trains still need to slow when passing...
I've never used (as I'm never in an appropriate zone/time), but on demand ridership was down; some is attributed to technical challenges (not accounting for customers boarding time for example). They increased the dwell time which helped w/reliability, but reduces capacity of course...new hours...
Even if we didn't fire/terminate... more infuriating: got an 8 percent raise in '22 and almost 19 percent in '23...received about 200k more since covid (2020 - now making over 560k) which is in itself a comfortable salary for an individual.

I've ridden this a handful of times last year.
It's actually unfinished further West your arrow up top where there is coarse gravel & stone (nearly impossible to ride on). You can see the transition to gravel from asphalt just beyond the bridge in the picture prior to this.
This is also a...
Well we're stuck with 1.6 percent increase in funding (versus 2) for the year. Pickering councillors Brenner and Cook tried to even get it to 3 percent but lost it 26-2. Nice to know there is advocates for good service but they'll have to work to get support...
The sunshine list is out.
Interesting that both the OPG CEO and CS(strategy)O salary were over the cap of $1.5 million imposed on Hydro one by the Ford government.
Top 5:
From here.
I will also add that some are switching to electricity to heat homes with heat pumps - they are simply more efficient. Enbridge and the feds put up rebates for those to switch - those programs have already wound down, because the money was all used up.
