I mean windows back when that was built are not the same as windows today. Making a single pane glass window is fairly easy to do in any shape, making a double/triple pane modern window in custom shapes is certainly possible, but it's not a stock item.
Definitely would raise the cost of windows to do a custom shape (for that many too), and given how minor the arch is probably just isn't worth it. I imagine the bottom floor of coppley with the large arched sections will have rounded sections (cheaper as they are just picture windows at the top).
Seems like good infill for Binbrook. It seems like they are giving some property to the parcel on the west side for a drive-thru aisle, wonder if that was in exchange for letting customers of the commercial units park in their parking lot.
Nice density, wish the parking was a little lower ratio but ~3:1 is not bad, especially with commercial spaces. Definitely not a looker though, that'll be an ugly building.
Yes the ATC1 contractor got a contract variation to construct the sidewall shoring of the station boxes for the underground stations (they had previously done the headwalls before tunneling).
From a feasibility standpoint jacking the shed would be possible while keeping the station in service. You would install the jacks one at a time during nightwork and cover them up with hoarding, if you cut into the columns and place the jack there it would not take up much more room than the...
I think you'll find a lot of the same contractors/consultants on Finch are also on other projects. It's a small industry (not construction in general, but these transit projects).
Stop spacing on the REM is pretty long vs the Metro. It's a rapid regional light metro interurban. Trying to shove it into any pre-existing box is unproductive. The Canada line is maybe the closest comparison but even that has much closer stop spacing, which implies a different desired service...
Note the notification from the condo board implies they are seeking only portions of the property. Could be that they were unable to reach a deal with the condo board to access the property during tunneling or the risk of damage to the property was too great and the mitigation was to acquire the...
