I agree. A glass podium just feels out of place here. In a historic area like St. Lawrence and the Distillery District, the podium should really reflect the brick and heritage aesthetic instead of looking overly modern.
A brick-oriented design would blend way better with the police station...
I'll just share my random thought but it would be nice if instead we got an even larger park and something for the public. Maybe a large library like the Boston Central Library that at the same time pays homage to our history.
I think once a few more towers go up and, even better, a footbridge to the East Harbour station Front Street east of Cherry would have the foot traffic for many businesses. The foot bridge right now is non-existent.
To add more complexity the park in the Canary District is called "Corktown common". Which is not within those Corktown boundaries!
Looks like Corktown name is garnering traction in the area lol.
On that note I wish these newer buildings had a space for pickup and drop off that's obvious to drivers. Such as a mini Otherwise I always notice vehicles, sometimes Uber, with their four ways on in a no standing zone blocking the lane for cars and bikes.
I suppose this building has that south...
