So they fought for all that extra height, only to build to what was originally approved anyways?

This is a massing masterclass. Materials, not so much.

Quality build, and probably something I would’ve been thrilled about a decade ago. However at this point I’m just over glass and panels. It’s played out and in moderation it’s a nice juxtaposition to older buildings but would it kill to get some solid materials and colour? Let’s get stone and...

I came here and saw this without the previous pages context and thought that there was a chorus of people who had suddenly come out of the weeds to claim The One is ugly and was very concerned 😂

I remember seeing articles when Hudson yards first opened about how much of a disaster it was. Bland, sterile, unhuman, and empty. I just visited today and it was bustling. Jam packed, people everywhere, from the mall, to the lookout etc. The well is clearly an incredible space. I’ll give it...

When even cmac is flaming your take you know it’s a bad take. Also the mentality that Toronto is not a beautiful or world class city so we shouldn’t expect much is the exact reason we get crappy buildings in the first place. A lack of pride in the city just breeds more bland and tasteless projects

I personally prefer my and everyone else’s dinner not being available for the entire public to see but that’s just me LOL.

It is retail. Retail has never needed to be all windows. We went hundreds of years without having solid glass walls for retail stores and they managed just fine. Personally I’m far more inclined to enter a store that doesnt look completely sterile on the outside.

    Kitchener TEK Tower 3 | 141.1m | 44s | IN8 Developments | srm Architects

Charlie west was a bit of a letdown imo but there is definitely some decent midrise projects that have gone up. IN8 and SRM are ruining this city though. DTK stands out from everywhere and is absolutely ugly. The street level is ungodly levels of disastrous. I can only hope market conditions...

Haven’t made the trek out to The Well yet but me and my dad are planning on checking it out after I’m done exams in December. For what it’s worth, I’ll never complain about there being an indigo in a mall. As far as major Canadian retail chains go, indigo is undoubtedly near the top and always...

Sugar warf is adjacent to this project. Check out the sugar warf phase one thread and you can see plenty of pictures for yourself! It’s just completely sterile and inhuman in its built form. Literally takes up a whole city block and adds nothing to the street level but glass and solid walls. No...

The overall design for this is pretty decent. I agree that I’m not sure this is the spot for it but one of the nicer looking proposals overall for the region.

Only gonna reply to one of these instead of all :) This one has been complete for a while, think the photos above capture it pretty well. Same goes for the other two threads you commented on. Both finished, however after my exams (so early December) I may be able to take a trek downtown and...

    Toronto 8 Wellesley | Residences at Yonge | 182.15m | 55s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

I will continue to emphasize that angled buildings do so much for the urban fabric and landscape. The cities insistence on buildings parallel to streets really is baffling and ultimately harmful. Aside from that mini tangent this is looking fine. Nothing spectacular but it’ll break up...
