Back when Islington Station had separate bus bays for each route, they had those same deep ruts, which I presume were created by the buses braking, and the asphalt being kind of "rubbery".

It was like that in Toronto too, except that sometimes customers and drivers would get into furious arguments over it! Customers would remind the drivers it's a TTC rule that they have to call out all the stops, the driver would say tell me your stop and I'll call it when we get there...

If they did that on Finch LRT, where stations are close together, you'd get to the next station while the train was still giving announcements for the previous one!

Sorry for the continual gripe, gripe, gripe from me. But again, in Don Valley Station, the elevator connecting Line 5 to the bus bays will continue to be unavailable until the new building is finished and open, and wheelchair users are expected to use the streets to connect from the southwest...

I don't mind benches, TTC vehicles used to have thickly padded upholstered benches at one time, which I presume did not last long and were easily vandalized. Then came bucket seats made of metal or plastic with a thin red cloth coating, and I used to think, they're not fooling me with that...

I don't have stats for your questions, but you're right, every station now being built or expanded must have a mezzanine level between platforms, even though we didn't need them when they made Bloor/Yonge and St. George.

If they turn some seats sideways but still make them child sized, as they currently do on buses, people will only use every other seat. (Actually, 2 out of a group of 3 seats get used, so it's not quite that bad, but still dumb.)
