Someone at the works department must be following this thread, because I noticed today they have begun remediating the section of path washed out by Taylor Creek in the Gatineau Hydro Corridor.
Acutally, from the looks of it it appears more as if they are abandoning the washed-out section in...
It is great to finally see the progress on the Thunderdome. Having seen it in person I remain stunned at how colossal the structure is.
It is of course not terribly useful unless and until its partner tunnel a quarter mile further south is in place, as well as the approaches to the bridge...
The (as it was, before the recent construction) underpass at Dawes is an excellent example of how it could/should perhaps be designed for the underpasses at St. Clair and Birchmount and St. Clair and Warden. The latter being what I, an admittedly rather brave cyclist, would describe as a...
A small missing link was recently remedied - the bridge over Taylor Creek from a path down from St Clair to the multi-use trail on the north side connecting Birchmount and Warden has finally been replaced and it is a dandy.
I pass through on that trail regularly on a cycling route I have...
There is also a tunnel a mere 100 metres or so north of the level crossing, making the crossing if not redundant then only a small added convenience for a moderately small number of people.
There is incidentally a signalized pedestrian crossing, with lights and barrier arms, over the Metrolinx Stouffville Line, connecting a public school and a high school at Corvette Avenue east of Kennedy Road.
I wanted to see it in real life so the other day I climbed down the incredibly steep hill on the Spanbridge side and went to take a look. It really is colossal.
here is a bridge repair project over Taylor Creek in the small section north of St. Clair between Birchmount and Warden, which has been stalled for a couple of years but seems to have been recently rejuvenated. The washout happened believe a few years ago, before I became familiar with the area...
There are other unrepaired sections further east and north on Taylor Creek: for example along the Gatineau hydro corridor, where the path has collapsed into the creek bed and which has lingered unresolved for many years.
As someone pointed out when I mistakenly posted this to an East Don...
Elsewhere in Taylor Creek, there is now another large works underway, in addition to the section between Dawes and Vic Park.
The paved trail on the south bank is out of order for a short stretch
The "Trail Detour" is not exactly as advertised - the dashed line on the east side is over muddy...
I played the Dentonia Park disc golf par 3 yesterday for the first time with my six year old son and we had a blast.
It was the first time I have ever set foot on that course, after years of lamenting it as a missing link between two sections of bikeable Taylor Creek paths.
The elevation...
More good news For the lower section of the East Don Trail.
Spotted today:
1. At the southern entrance to the East Don Trail (at the forks): crew consisting of a dumptruck and excavator, smoothing out the temporary abutments to the Bailey bridge over Taylor Creek. This has to mean that plans...
Update:
Work appears to have resumed at the would-be bridge site.
There was a contractor crew with a large number of trucks at the site of the rail crossing this morning. One of the gentlemen stated that they were preparing to drive piles for the bridge abutments.
