Restaurant Comings & Goings

Speaking of Moroccan, I've still never been to the Sultan's Tent, which has been around since I was a kid in the 80's...
Fun story about the Sultan's Tent. My wife and I went there for dinner probably 20 years ago (food and entertainment were good). Some older couple sent us a couple of glasses of bubbly. We were younger, accepted them and raised our glasses to them. Later, we realized that they were swingers looking to hook up.

Anyways, I haven't been back, but it was good at the time

When were you married, your teens? LOL

Post Script: PL isn't as old as he sounds...... :)

I went when I just moved to Toronto, so almost 25 years ago now. It was a lot of fun, but not really something you go back to.

Yeah, same result for me. It was with a group of friends somewhere around 2007 or so when one suggested "hey, this place sounds interesting, let's have a group night out here."

The belly dancing show was I'm sure quite skilled--it's the only one I've ever seen so I have no comparables--but it is clearly a craft that takes a lot of skill to learn and a lot of energy to perform, however it started only three minutes after they sent our entrees to the table, and it went on and on and on for ten minutes, and they have a dancer right at tableside, so it became that awkward question of "can I ignore her and eat my food now, or is it polite to wait until it is over as not to be rude, but then my food will be cold?"

Well don't leave out the most fascinating details - did you "swing"? 🤭

Gross. But it will be a huge success. First location 345 bloor street east.

Is this still in the works? I had been looking for signs of activity and it was really only recently that I saw the restaurant space was marked leased. TBH I was hoping that maybe plans had changed and some other restaurant might be moving in.

iHOP is still not open??? If they couldn't open by Shrove Tuesday this year they really shot themselves in the foot!!!!!!!!!!!

Opening soon in Bloor West Village (2190 Bloor St W):
Marvelous by Fred/Aux Merveilleux de Fred
(CINNAHOLIC was previous occupant and did not last long)

While memorable.......and I get it...........he really should nix the 'de Fred'.....

It makes the name too long, and somehow makes it less what it is...(which is high--end Viennoise)

"Aux Merveilleux" makes little sense; "Les Merveilles de Fred" would have been much better. Edit: Just noticed it's a chain... oh well.

New restaurant opening up on King St. W and Portland in the "Spring 2025"
How is this a "new concept"?

"Customers can expect a menu that combines classic techniques with high-quality ingredients... customers can expect a focus on honoring Italian culture while incorporating modern elements"

That's basically any good Italian restaurant. There are dozens of restaurants (or more!) in the GTA that match that description.
