Considering the engineering that went behind this project, it's a bit of a shame that the aesthetics of conjoining the addition with the existing building were an afterthought. On the other hand, I'm really surprised that they managed to do such an excellent job with the crown. It's not flashy or anything, but I feel like it does a good job of resolving the architecture. On another positive note, I'm really happy with the quality of window wall here; it looks really good to my eyes. Little in the way of spandrel, minimalist, dark coloured mullions, fairly low iron glass; no real complaints.

I very much agree. I like the vast majority of this tower except for the mid-section between the two uses. I think that's the weak point and it's unfortunate because both the office element and residential element are excellent otherwise.

Also agreed on the crown. Will it have any lighting feature? Might look neat being lit up from the inside.

Some recent shots from the lobby (avoiding the "you can't take pictures in here, sir" security guard).

I walked past 488 last night for first time in a couple of months and was surprised to see that they have still not finished the exterior of the main floor - esp. along Dundas. Seems like something they really ought to be getting on with - even if it means they need to move and then re-install the pedestrian protection covered walkway.
