The St Lawrence Seaway just set a record for the the latest closing of a shipping season in its history —January 12 — as ice clearance at the Beauharnois locks southwest of Montreal held up the transit of the last ships booked to make the passage. The result was this January 14 unloading of raw sugar at the Redpath refinery at Toronto harbour, making for this dramatic night shot.
