Construction is progressing steadily at The Residences at Central Park, a masterplanned community designed by Core Architects for Amexon Development Corporation at Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East in North York. The 12-acre site will feature five residential towers ranging from 12 to 31 storeys. The community will also offer office and retail spaces arranged around a three-acre central park. Phase 1 is now well above grade, with sub-grade construction ongoing for Phase 2. UrbanToronto provided a brief update last month on these initial phases.

The west elevation of the 31-storey Phase 1 tower has reached the fifth floor, with formwork and decking in place for the sixth-floor slab. Shoring posts with bracing currently dominate the ground floor, while white weatherproof tarps cover the fifth floor, and temporary fencing lines the upper floors.

From inside the double-height ground floor though, workers are seen dismantling shoring posts where the concrete above has sufficiently cured. This space will eventually house shared amenities for residents.

Meanwhile, the south elevation shows the first glazing installed on the second floor., while forms are in place for part of the seventh storey above where the sixth floor slab is formed. At grade, formwork panels, rebar, and construction materials are staged.

A close-up view on the second floor highlights white metal panels flanking the recently installed glazing, framed in black aluminum with black louvres above the windows. The balcony slab extends outward and will later be fitted with glass railings.

Looking southwest over the site, we see the crane for Phase 2 at the southern end of the excavation. This area will eventually rise to house 19- and 31-storey towers, connected by a shared podium with 35,000 ft² of retail space. An earthen ramp at the southeast corner, currently snow-covered, provides access from grade to the excavation floor, where a yellow excavator is poised for work. Orange tarps line the shoring walls that are secured with tiebacks. On the left, construction materials and formwork are staged near the Phase 1 podium.

Pivoting southeast, we see extensive rebar grids laid out, with a central section protected by tarps covering concrete. Rebar projects upward where columns will extend. Behind the pit at grade, the presentation centre with its distinctive glass façade and angular form, will later be repurposed into an event venue. The southern portion of the site will also see slope stabilization and trail improvements to connect to the nearby East Don Parkland.

With Phase 1 slated for occupancy in February, 2026, the masterplanned community’s five towers will range in height from 46.5m to 105.9m, housing 1,478 residential units.
