Getting to Toronto Island has been in the news repeatedly this summer: there aren't enough ferries operating currently, new ones won't be delivered soon enough, and people are blue-skying several proposals for a fixed-link of some sort, all of which have been controversial in one way or another. Something that's not up for debate though is that the Toronto Island experience is one unlike any other area of the city, and is particularly exemplified in this shot by UrbanToronto Forum contributor DavidCapizzano. The machined boardwalk itself, the concrete wall, and even the pruning of the trees here creates an engineered passage through what is otherwise a rather wild setting... and one possibly unique to Toronto. Are there any other lakeside or seaside boardwalks out there that this scene could be mistaken for?
