With $5.3 billion in capital investment and 19km of new rapid transit intersecting with Toronto’s main north-south subway artery, Yonge and Eglinton is emerging as one of the most connected and important mobility hubs in the country. As Midtown continues to grow and expand, construction is always underway, with buildings always on the rise. With so much going on in the area, First Class Drones recently flew over Broadway Avenue just north of Eglinton Avenue for us, to share a unique perspective of the area with UrbanToronto readers.
To accompany the neighbourhood 'fly through,' we have compiled some of the projects that you might be able to identify that are either recent builds, nearing completion, or are newly underway in the area.
The 38-storey infill rental tower is replacing the western half of a 10-storey apartment building. Designed by WZMH Architects for Hazelview Investments, the project will add a total of 316 residential rental apartments to the Midtown community.
The Parker is a 39-storey rental tower by Fitzrovia at Broadway and Redpath Avenues. Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the tower is nearly completed, with its 349 rental units becoming occupied by residents while final touches are made.
Being developed conjointly by Reserve Properties and Westdale Properties, Line 5 will consist of two 33 and 36-storey towers which will house condo, institutional, and retail spaces, totalling 504 and 428 units. Designed by IBI Group, the development was designed with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT in mind, hence its name.
The 36-storey mixed-use rental buildings designed by IBI Group for Reserve Properties and Westdale Properties will house office, rental, and retail spaces within a total of 412 units. This project is part of the same development as Untitled Toronto...
...which includes 21 and 33-storey condo and office towers housing 751 units at 110 Broadway Avenue, designed by IBI Group with input from Pharrell Williams!
The 38-storey BDP Quadrangle-designed rental tower for KG Group is well under construction. Covered by us recently, the development is unique because it is being added onto the side of, and then being built above an existing 19-storey rental building at 101 Roehampton.
A 35-storey tower containing retail, office, and condominium uses is coming to 2161 Yonge Street, at the northeast corner with Soudan. Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects for Tribute Communities and Tenblock, the project will rise to a height of 121.3 metres and contain 304 condominium units with retail at its base.
Designed by BDP Quadrangle for Plaza, the two-tower condo and rental development will rise 34 and 27 storeys, and house a total of 545 residential units.
There's are other recent projects in the area too: you can find them all by clicking on the MAP link at the top of UrbanToronto.ca pages, and zeroing in on this — or any other area you would like to explore!
UrbanToronto will continue to follow updates for these developments, but in the meantime, you can learn more from our Database files for the project, linked below.
