This week's Throwback Thursday takes us to Avenue Road, south of Davenport Road, in the north end of Toronto's posh Yorkville neighbourhood, comparing views captured more than a year and a half apart that show the rise of a new mid-rise condominium development. Back at the start of September, 2018, concrete had just begun to rise above grade at Dash Developments' Avenue 151, roughly one year into its construction of the west side of Avenue Road.

Fast forward to May 16, 2020, and the building is now topped out at ten storeys, reaching its final height of 41 metres with a futuristic design from Teeple Architects, along with Giovanni A. Tassone Architects serving as Architect of Record. The same vantage point 20 months later shows the building's textured white precast concrete finishes contrasting against a window wall system with tinted windows and gold-hued mullions. At street level, copper coloured finishes are used on the cladding, while a row of double-height columns lift the levels above to allow wider sidewalks below.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto. In the meantime, you can submit your own Throwback Thursday comparisons in our dedicated Forum thread for your chance to be featured in next week's edition.
