Mississauga's Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton intersection has a new architectural landmark, with work wrapping up on the 19-storey, Kirkor Architects-designed Arc at Erin Mills, the third phase of The Daniels Corporation's Erin Mills community. The project has been under construction since the end of 2016, and in 2.5 years, has grown from an empty lot into a topped-out building.

The project's curving exterior, suggestive of a cruise ship, has been gradually taking shape with the installation of exterior cladding, a task now wrapping up. The project's main window wall building envelope—consisting of reflective glazing, dark grey mullions, and dark grey spandrel panels—is partially obscured by a mix of white perforated metal and clear glazed balconies.

Balcony railing installation had progressed as high as the 13th floor at the time of our last update back in February, and subsequent levels have since been clad as well. The mix of glass and metal balcony railings hides much of the window wall building envelope, forming a streamlined exterior when viewed from street level.

Along the tower’s east elevation over Erin Mills Parkway, a vertical strip of unfinished balconies running up the building marks the location of the external hoists used during construction. With the building’s elevators now operational, the hoists have been removed and work has begun on filling in the missing areas of cladding.

More housing for the area is on the horizon, with Daniels planning additional buildings kitty corner to the first three towers here, this time on the northeast corner of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue. The project's upcoming next phases are proposed as 11, 15, and 29-storey buildings.
