Just south of King and Spadina in Downtown Toronto, a new rental apartment tower is preparing to rise 36 storeys into the area skyline. Dubbed The Taylor, the project at 57 Spadina Avenue—being developed by Tricon House working with MOD Developments Inc. as builder—has been under construction for roughly one year now, with forming currently in progress for the building's underground levels.

Before the first hints of concrete and steel rise above grade for the 36-storey rental apartment tower designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and Graziani + Corazza Architects, crews must complete forming of the building's four-level underground garage.

The underground levels have been underway since the installation of a crane back in March, followed by the first walls and columns for the tower's foundations and the P4 parking level back in April. The most recent photos of the site show that the majority of the P4 level is in place, allowing the first concrete pours to begin for the P3 level above.

The remaining below-ground forming will continue for another few months before work rises above street level on Spadina. Once complete, the tower will rise to a height of 397 feet, or 121 metres, housing 286 rental apartment units.
