Easily among the boldest architectural additions to our city in the last few years, Cityzen Development Group, Fernbrook Homes and Castlepoint Numa's L Tower has been drawing both our eyes and camera lenses skyward for the duration of its construction. The 58-storey Studio Daniel Libeskind and Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed project has been topped-out on the Toronto skyline for some time now, and construction is pushing into its final stages.
Glazing now covers almost all of the tower, and the tower's signature northern curtainwall facade is almost fully clad.
After much anticipation, the eastern and western sides of the tower are now glazed all the way up to the peak, except for the two-storey penthouse which is still awaiting its outer skin.
At ground level, the tower's base is now seeing its exterior finishes installed. The linear strip pattern seen on the tower's signature northern façade is repeated along the tower base's west side.
The north side of the podium features a polygonal entranceway with stairs. We can now see the first panels of glazing have been applied to this faceted geometric form.
Parking for L Tower residents will be located in the project's sister development, Backstage, currently under construction to the tower's immediate south. Residents will have access to the shared underground lot via a pedestrian tunnel running below The Esplanade.
