TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Over at CPTDB, poster Xtrazsteve has dug through the open data and presented his findings on the next TTC Board period changes.

The potential increase to 17 Birchmount Service is odd.

I used to work afternoons and frequently took the last 17 from Warden Station. The regulars of that bus know when to get there but beyond that, it is not in high demand at 1 am.

It's only 2 buses but even still.. I don't see anyone taking the 17 Birchmount at 1:30 am.

Would be nice to add a New Look to my collection to go with the Orion V from Awesome Diecast I already have.

I have one from Rapido (though I never glued on the mirrors as they are tiny). It sits on a 3D printed base to hide the wires, which connect to an AC/DC adapter connected to a Wi-Fi enabled outlet. So I can say "Hey Google turn on the TTC bus" and the front and rear LED's come on 😂. I love it! Would recommend!

All that is missing is the roar of the air starter going off!

The Mayor is holding a presser tomorrow on TTC Service improvements.

I hope it has more than what was gathered above!
Hopefully they finally announce the new CEO.
New CEO has this year in the bag, with the budget already set. And next year, because it's an election year. Any new CEO that comes in will have a two year pass. Plus the excuses that they can't fix TTC right away, should buy some time.

Unless it's Percy. Which I believe it will be.

With YUS with ATC and the savings that shouldn't have bright, with the billions spent, there really shouldn't be any excuse for service to be back to Pre-Pandemic levels. They literally cut half the operators on YUS, they're really shouldn't be any excuses. But of course, someone on here will defend TTC.

All the contracting out that they've done through out TTC over the years , yet we are still worse off now. I would love to see a breakdown of all the aspects of TTC that was contracted out, technology that came in that should have saved the company and the end user money, and compare those projections to today's cost. All the savings from the new streetcars, with larger capacity per operator, etc.

I would love to see some forensic audits at TTC. Theres clearly a structural culture problem at TTC. Maybe upload the TTC, but Metrolink will probably make things work.

Even in 1996 with all those cuts. The buses still came on time. There were wasy less technology, and pen and paper. Even fare complice was way better. Yes, the buses were less frequent, but they still came on time. Even after the subway accident in 1995, I don't recall a bunch of subway closures every weekend after that.

Sorry for rant.

The presser is here:

Looks pretty much like what I posted up page.

Frankly, it did not merit a press conference.
Taking a page out of John Tory's play book.

She can do this every board period. With the exception of summer because of all the cuts. And resume back in Sept. Even if it were minor service changes to routes. It easy to fool and deceive the public.

This is the most cherry picked note:
  • Buses will arrive every two minutes connecting customers along the northwest corridor with Finch Station on Line 1, through Etobicoke to Kipling Station on Line 2. This change improves the current Saturday afternoon service frequency of every three to four minutes at Steeles and Weston on 60 Steeles West, 165 Weston Rd. North, and 960 Steeles West Express routes.
What does it even mean? At Steeles and Weston you can take a bus every 2 min to Line 1 and 2??? Reporters these days.
