This thread will be used for discussion specifically regarding the proposed Woodbine GO station at Highway 27 south of Rexdale Boulevard. Plans can be found in the AIC link below, currently the proposal is advancing through the SPA process.

Metrolinx is sticking with their "T" I see. Although I swear this T looks different than before.

I really hope the surface parking is interim.

Metrolinx continues to drag their feet on any meaningful TOD around GO projects, while they have been doing excellent TOD planning for the Ontario Line. I don't get it.
They cant even build stations in any kind of reasonable time frame, so they're the last people who should even have their hands in TOD developments. Which has been clearly evidenced by their failure to get Mimico GO rebuilt for the past 10+ years.

Likewise, and not sure why we need to copy Boston. Its transit is abysmal currently.
Not sure why we keep bringing up the 'T' as a bad transit identifier. Boston, Vancouver, Minneapolis, Stockholm use 'T' to identify Transit, other places often use 'M' or different letters for different modes. If we are talking about the rollout, it definitely feels botched.

Wow it's litterally taken them almost 5 years to just come out with a rendering of the station, setting new records for the length of time needed to built a single station on this one.

Notice of Commencement
"The Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) commenced on November 21, 2019. Refer to the Notice of Commencement for additional details regarding this process."

As a regular user of Etobicoke North, I hope this never gets built. 🤞🏻
Don't worry, at the rate they're going you'll be retired before the station is open.

I recall there was a thread for this station previously. It could be that the drawings were posted in the broader Woodbine thread, but we've certainly seen them before.

I searched for my own posts on Woodbine.........I found a couple of sets of posts in the GO Construction thread.

One here:

Which offered this render below:

And another here where the Site Plan for the station was being discussed:

Fair point, I guess the rollout is the bigger issue. If we are going to use T, let's use it on everything so it becomes the logo for all transit stations in Toronto, subway, tram, bus, etc.

For Boston, the transit is known as the Boston T, which is like the Toronto (T)TC. Really my OCD is just begging for clear and consistent communications.

I don't see how this Woodbine GO train station will be of much use. It's at the far deserted corner of the large Woodbine race track area, not at the spectator and casino part of it, and otherwise by a large sprawling industrial (and mostly non-pedestrian) area, as can be seen from the satellite view.

Are those small roads inside the Woodbine area open to the general public, or just for internal restricted use by the horse racing people? If they want people to use them for walking to the casino, hotel, etc., they would at the very least have to add sidewalks, and I doubt many would be using them except for maybe when there was some big event happening. Google walking directions oddly show someone would have to go all the way around the western side (50 minutes).

In any case, the already existing TTC and Miway buses on Rexdale Blvd and Hwy 27 get people much closer to there than this proposed GO train station would.
I suppose if the GO station could have stairs going to inlet stops for TTC buses and waiting areas on Hwy 27, it could be a little more useful than it would appear. But there's no sidewalks there now.
