I've been to a Wolfpack game before and the atmosphere at Lamport is pretty good. Ascension into the Super League should help gradually bridge its position from niche into growing towards becoming more mainstream. Although, I think a comparable counterpart like TFC still holds an advantage. As the competition in the MLS makes it more relatable to the local market, along with the appeal of soccer/football towards a diverse fanbase.

Sonny Bill Williams reportedly signs $10 million contract with Toronto Wolfpack

23:02, Nov 05 2019

Fresh from the signalled end of his All Blacks career, Sonny Bill Williams will join the Toronto Wolfpack rugby league club under a deal worth a reported $10 million, Australian media are reporting.

Wide World of Sports reporter Danny Weidler reported Williams had signed a two-year deal with the Canadian club, making him the highest-paid rugby league player in the world.

"The deal is stunning," Weidler told a Nine news bulletin. "It's probably the biggest deal I have ever heard in rugby league and rugby."

Gotta get to at least a couple this season. A lot of the matches are lining up with Reds matches so it's a bit of a bunk situation for me.

Damn I love living near BMO Field and Lamport! Walk to matches. <3

Wolfpack miss out on British government emergency loan for rugby league

The British government is providing 16 million pounds ($28.1 million) to “safeguard the immediate future” of rugby league, which has been grounded by the global pandemic.

But funds from the emergency loan won’t be available to the Toronto Wolfpack or France’s Catalan Dragons and Toulouse Olympique.

Super League eyes possible August return, Wolfpack may not be home until October

May 21, 2020

TORONTO — The Toronto Wolfpack could be back in action in mid-August under a tentative Super League return-to-play plan.

But, barring the removal of travel and other restrictions, the transatlantic rugby league team isn't likely to see action in Toronto before October.

The pandemic-prompted new schedule options push the sport well past the date that training camps would normally start for next season.

Wolfpack look to offer fans tracking bracelets to help COVID-19 contact tracing

Thursday, June 4, 2020

The Toronto Wolfpack are looking at providing fans with disposable tracking bracelets/wristbands during games to allow for contact-tracing in case of COVID-19 once the team returns to play.

The transatlantic rugby league team has struck a deal with TraceSafe Technologies to use its wearable tracking products and services "to help in safely re-opening Lamport Stadium for training, any games played behind closed doors, and games with fans during this time of social distancing."

The Wolfpack say they are the first pro sports team in the world "to embrace the use of wearable tracking products and services for staff and fans."

Wolfpack looking for new ownership with rugby club in limbo

Aug 03, 2020

Majority owner David Argyle plans to step away from the Toronto Wolfpack with the transatlantic rugby league team, currently in limbo, entertaining new ownership offers.

Wolfpack president and CEO Bob Hunter says the Wolfpack are mulling over separate offers, one from North America and the other from the United Kingdom.

The news comes in the wake of news that Betfred Super League has terminated Toronto's participation agreement following its withdrawal from the competition last month.

The Wolfpack would now have to enter into a new participation agreement before being able to play in the competition in 2021. While that can be done, the Toronto franchise would likely have to provide assurances about its sustainability.

Citing the global pandemic, the Wolfpack announced July 20 that they could not afford to take part in the remainder of the Super League season. Argyle said his players were free to negotiate with other clubs for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Play resumed Sunday with the Super League down to 11 teams.
