Tower crane put up today. I posted a video on Mastodon:

Same. It looked like they were just finishing demo last week and now there is a crane. I don't even remember them pouring the foundation for the crane but obviously they must have.

The demo was fairly quick, and I guess the elimination of the basement level makes that part of the build much quicker.

This is great to see! The density added down on this stretch of King St. will be nice to see. Hopefully the stretch of retail/commercial as you get closer to Mac in this stretch continues to improve. It's a really cool pocket of the City.

Westdale continues to be the guiding light for "suburban" development in Hamilton.

While I often used to shop at that Food Basics when I lived off Locke, a better use of that property can be had (while including the grocery store!)

That intersection (king and longwood) has a lot of promise but 3 of the corners are parking lots. The Food Basics, while it needs to remain, could be laid out much better. They supply with full sized semis off of Longwood for which they need to use the parking lot across the street to back in. But yeah, there's a lot of potential in this area, I hope that stretch of King to the east and then Paradise get reconfigured with LRT and become less a freeway in disguise.

Wonder if the city will get them to redo the sidewalk and turn/bike lanes when completed. I use this bike lane frequently.

I'll be excited for the bike lane to be restored! This should add nicely to the area, it'll be nice if this area of the street gets reconfigured during LRT to be less a bypass, this area could make a nice little commercial hub.

The LRT drawings show Paradise remains a one-way south bound road. Main street at Paradise will eventually be two-way and it would seem to me that Paradise would be a perfect candidate for two-way conversion as well.
As it stands right now, King and Paradise where this development sits, is a mess.

There are comments from the city to align the LRT design with changes to paradise, I think only specifically to remove the slip lanes and make it a standard T intersection. Hard to know how the whole thing will look without knowing the MTO's full plans for the section of King between dundurn and paradise.
