I'm not sure where folks are seeing the value engineering in this. But I'll guess I'll wait and see if they will wrap it all around with Concord's/Canderal's "finest"...

There are tons - some of the changes from the competition to current scheme; but the architects were also noted in one of the city reports as saying that the design couldn't be VE'ed further. There are lots of little details - such as the staircase on Front clad in curved glass - there are illustrative of the details in other RSH projects but are no longer present in this final scheme.

I wasn't really aware of that. Though to be fair, I wasn't paying attention to this until the Time Team excavation of the project...

That said, I do note the degree of irony that in cost cutting down that they probably lost more money with delays and such then before. I guess this is what they get when the city has its head still stuck in that "gravy train" narrative when it comes to fiscal populism. And thus they ended paying for what they got...but it wasn't, because it was paying for a lot more. /sigh

...anywhoose, thanks for explaining that as I wasn't clear.

From Market Lane only 3 of 8 column (rows) left on the west side. Lightening quick construction speed compared to all the years of …..preparation?

Practice makes perfect! They are certainly speeding things up in last few weeks and, even allowing for the Christmas break, should have all the arches up by mid-January and probably more floor slab poured too. It will be interesting to see how complicated it is and how long it takes to install the cladding/roofing so that they can start inside work.
