2 residential towers, one 30-storey/101m and one 8-storey/36m proposed on the property of the Peterborough City Courthouse.

"The Applicant is seeking to re-zone the eastern half of the property from PS.2 – Public Service District to C.6 – Commercial District with site specific exceptions to facilitate the construction two residential towers, one being approximately 30 storeys in height and the other being approximately 8 storeys in height. The Applicant is proposing to construct the two towers, containing a total of 400 apartment units, on the easterly parking lot that currently serves the County of Peterborough administrative office and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The existing County Office/Courthouse building is intended to remain post-development."

Not only would this, at 101m, be the tallest building in Peterborough (and all of eastern Ontario excluding Ottawa, if I'm not mistaken), but it also sits atop quite a large hill located just north of downtown, so it would appear a decent amount taller from a distance

Holy cow. 30 floors??
That's big. I'm curious how city council will respond to this. While I expect a haircut...I don't have any familiarity with their planning department.
It's also land that is currently owned by "The Corporation of the County of Peterborough" so that adds a layer of complexity and curiosity here
