^How is this sign even possible? If there are no city guidelines regarding billboards on top of prominent buildings then it should follow that nearly ALL of the city's tall buildings would be sporting something like this, seeing as how it's such an easy cash grab for the landlord . Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

Can it be reported to anyone? And if so, who?

If Intact is in the building, I believe that would count as first party signage. Its no different than having 'Canadian Tire' up on the wall at Bay/Dundas

That sign is a travesty, especially on such a beautiful and recognizable building.

But it isn't a "heritage" building. And the building has a bit of an "overwrought 70s stuff" reputation to live down, architecturally and urbanistically. (Not that the sign isn't a travesty, but...)

Sp!re just sent me a text saying University Ave. is closed in front of MaRS and there is a flatbed truck out. Anyone know if its related to MaRS?

So it was a false alarm:

Traffic disruptions to University Avenue this weekend
A large construction crane will occupy a section of the northbound lanes of University Avenue this weekend as new infrastructure equipment is lifted into place at Mount Sinai Hospital. This will cause the following closures/disruptions:

Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. to Monday, September 20 at 4 a.m.

All northbound lanes on University Avenue will be closed from the north side of Gerrard Street to College Street.
Southbound University Avenue traffic lanes and sidewalk will remain open, except when there is a load being lifted by the crane.
University Avenue median U-turns between College Street and Gerrard Street will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Gerrard Street East will see an increase in traffic flow, funneling from University Avenue northbound lanes.
The same closures and restrictions will apply for the weekends of October 9, 10, 11, and October 22, 23 and 24.

If the plans already approved by the City were going to be changed we would see a revised permit application or a revised development application. As we have seen neither they are either doing nothing or will start up where they left off. Let's hope it's the latter.
