Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

They left that poor thing behind. The old tracks are disconnected by now.

Will the grade separation increase the speed limit and will that reduce travel time compared to the diamond condition? Trains seemed to noticeably slow near the diamond.

Speeds will increase because it's no longer an active construction area, after the track settles. It'll probably be another year before they take it at the maximum rated speed.

Random question, perhaps it's already been answered, but what is the second set of tracks doing over the new bridge? It doesnt look like it's connected on either end, is the plan to eventually have bi-directional travel on the full line?

yes - space constraints required they wait for the first track was connected before connecting the second track.

The entire Barrie Corridor will be double-tracked in the next few years, at least south of Bradford.

The travel time most likely won’t decrease past Downsview park, because trains still need to meet and pass at the siding near Rutherford
