"The applicant is proposing to develop a 10 storey, mixed-use building on the subject property, which is the current location of Mark Street United Church. The new building will be developed adjacent to the original church building, which will remain on the site.

The proposed mixed-use building and existing church building will be separated onto individual lots by way of consent."

What's with all the new urban density in Peterborough going in on the east side of the river away from downtown?
Jackson Creek runs (mostly) buried under downtown. If you look at the last photo I posted you can find Jackson Park on the left and follow the path of the creek into downtown. There are some of what I might call "curious" and quite random openings where the creek is open to the surface and can easily overflow its channel. The floodplain map almost perfectly follows it too.

Here's an example of one of these random openings, this one being right behind the bus terminal and has a building on top of it
