A new to the AIC proposal occupies the block bounded by Viewmount on the north, Marlee on the west, and Romar on the south.

The full list of addresses is as follows:

351-377 Marlee, 2-6 Romar, and 265-269 Viewmount.

The proposal is for two towers at 36s and 39s.- 905 units all-in.

That plaza is one of the worst along Marlee and that’s saying something. Good riddance that the sketchy spa and weird cafe (the store front with just a black sign)
 
architects-Alliance and Graziani + Corazza are destroying Toronto with their cheap, ideology-driven designs. The architects who design this sort of thing are entitled to live in these sterile, ugly, poorly-thought-out interventions, but the rest of us deserve better. Misguided folks like Peter Clewes and Enzo Corazza should be ashamed that they inflict this (and their very similar templates) onto the community. I'm sure they'd whine that the hoi-polloi could not possibly understand the social engineering their brilliant buildings perform. They are artless hacks. Do they sell their designs by number of storeys?? I wish developers would spend the extra ten bucks and hire quality firms like KPMB, Hariri-Pontarini, Partisans, Omar Gandhi, or even Contermporary Classical designers like RAMSA or Richard Wengle. My furnace's air filter is a better design than these looming, overbearing towers.
 
Bad design is much more often the fault of crappy developers cheaping out. Most architect firms can do decent designs. Some are irredeemable, but...
 
Look at the building it's replacing though. It's going to be one less parking lot abutting Marlee, three retail locations, and a lot of new residents using public/active transit and buying from businesses in the area who frankly need the custom.

What's the argument that this isn't a net improvement to the area?
