The popularity of Jamaican patties in Toronto

not authentic, but Antler has a great venison patty with Scotch Bonnet hot sauce. Not nearly as dry as beef and has a good punch.

Juici Patties, one of the two most popular patty chains/restaurants in Jamaica has one of its factories in Toronto, in Scarborough.

Also, over 30 years ago, there was apparently a politicized "Patty War" in 1985 over whether or not sellers of Jamaican patties could legally call their food as such or if "beef patty" could only refer to the food made of ground beef as found in hamburgers, which would mean the sellers had to call theirs something else like "meat pie" etc. The sellers wouldn't back down, refusing to call their patties by any other name, and eventually won their right to do so. It made international news even back in Jamaica.

Aren't there good Jamaican beef patties anywhere in Mississauga, fresh or frozen? I've been searching but Mississauga is a wasteland.

The best I could find frozen are the Patty King white box in Asian supermarkets. Much better than the Patty King grey box in regular supermarkets. The patties in the grey box are horrible.

I never understood how beef patties from the same company/brand could taste so difference like that.
