Presentation of Draft Official Plan Amendment - Reimagining the Mall Recommendations

On Monday, February 3, 2020, City staff will present a draft official plan amendment to the City's Planning and Development Committee (PDC) to begin implementing recommendations from the Reimagining the Mall study.
The proposed amendments to the Central Erin Mills Major Node Character Area and the Malton, Meadowvale, Rathwood-Applewood, Sheridan and South Common Community Node Character Areas provide policies to guide redevelopment and intensification. The goal is to develop mixed-use communities that provide residential and retail uses, community facilities and multi-modal transportation options.
The official plan amendment includes a range of policies including those related to maximum building heights and densities, maintenance of retail function, affordable housing, block sizes, development master plans and environmental sustainability.
