I'm getting the impression that all of these travel-related COVID tests aren't doing their job. Or they're not strict enough, or not being enforced or something.

Honestly pre-boarding testing is of questionable utility - the only way you can be sure is assume everyone is infected and have a mandatory quarantine and testing regime after arrival for *any* method of travel. Since we clearly don't have the stomach for that, it's moot.

Ontario reported 291 people in general hospital wards with COVID-19 (down by five from the previous day) with 155 patients in intensive care units (unchanged) and 139 patients in intensive care units on a ventilator (unchanged).

So at least the hospitalization rate is fairly unchanged...for now.

Not good.... But hopefully with all of the boosters and now 5-12's getting vaccinated at a decent pace, that can keep it from getting out of hand and prevent a large amount of serious illness.
