Runtime adjustments on various routes across the city.

The standard clueless thinking and planning with no thought what riders really want in the way of service.

Starting service late is US style of planning.

Malton continue to get the shaft for service including access to the airport going back to the day staff thought to use Sat service which was hourly for weekday service. Staff and council got an ear full of complaints not only from riders, but also employers. Still shows they haven't learn anything.

How many times has route 9 been changed over the last 2 decades?? In the old days, it was like route 8 milk run trying to find riders before 8 got split. Getting to Streetsville these days is not easy as well being a longer travel time compared to when the 9 service it.

Lets see how the new GM starts dealing with service changes starting with the next board change as it may be a telling point what maybe coming down the road for riders in the future.

The problem not only with miWay, but with other sectors of Mississauga departments, they all have been requested to reduced both operation and capital cost at budget level for 2024 below 2023 budget, At the same time, miWay budget has fallen from 23% to 16% or the last five or so years,
Hi Drum, where did you get this 23% figure from? Looking at the Net Operating Budget, MiWay has always hovered in the 16-17% range since 2016.

It used to be going back to 2000.

I'll have to take your word for it. According to the 2010 and 2007 budgets, the below is Transit's portion of the city's net operating budget:
2010 - 13.3%
2009 - 13.4%
2008 - 15.7%
2007 - 11.9%
2006 - 12.9%
2005 - 14%
2004 - 15%

Do you know how far back I'd have to go to find > 20%?

edit: looks like this was clarified over on CPTDB back in December, thanks to @MiExpress!

Next Transit Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 5th. Agenda here. Doesn't seem like there's any presentation from MiWay, unless one is added for
6.4 (Suzanne Holder, Manager, Customer Success and Innovation with respect to Customer Success Program) later.

I looked at a few things when I got home today from the US and the Kingsbridge Garden/Elia intersection is a full closure putting Route 7 and 66 on detour. Being a full closure means they do the full intersection in one month than 2 doing a partly closure.

Come April 1 (Fool Day), route 68 will be on another detour by the way of Ellia to Eglinton as there will be no left turns going north at Eglinton until April 14 for waterline work. Saw no notice for southbound nor east bound regarding no left turn. Didn't have time to look at the westbound lanes to see if it is open for left turns.

Starting April 3, Elm intersection will be closed for a month, and I am expecting a full closure there as well. This will put Route 3 and 8 on major detour

Got a notice that the next 3 months will see Sq One Intersection doing a partly closure, follow by Absolute that may see a full closure and then Burnhamthorpe. No dates for the closure but expect Sq One in the next 2 weeks.

There is a lack of communication between ML and miWay as to when closures will happen as well how long for so miWay can better plan for the closures as well-informed riders of route changes. This includes having notices at shelters/stops not being service by the detours as well stops near the route change as most users will not be going to the website for updates.

Its modest, but good to see 2 routes get weekend daytime service and (early evening in one case) get to sub-20 minute headway.

Route 61 has been crying for close to 2 years to see better service and long overdue. There is talk of having an express bus added to the route, and this is a good case to have it go to Dundas and the Cooksville GO station as it kills two birds with one change. This allows riders a better option to get to the GO station as well bypassing Sq One and the extra transfer that happens today

Route 66 service mostly Brampton Sheridan College that uses articulated buses today. Lot of employment along the route as well. These changes are only a tip of an iceberg that long overdue even before COVID

We also need full 7 day a week service restored on 107 Malton Express and 110 University Express as well. I dunno why MiWay is hesitant to restore pre pandemic service on those routes when ridership is at record breaking levels.

It's a matter of having manpower to operate lines and why new drivers are being hire. Then there is the funding of the service along with other lines that need to be beefed up.

Bottom line, council has the final say as to what miWay is to get for funding regardless of what staff is asking for let along the public.

The above is now posted along with other April 29 service changes. No other material improvements; some modest tweaks and some seasonal reductions due to UTM being much less busy post-term.
