Jair Bolsonaro's Brazil

I have friends there and the news coming out there from locals is not good. I speak to my friends there via whatsapp daily and my understanding is that the situation there is worse than the public outside Brazil is aware of. Manaus is on a lockdown, people are scared to leave their homes and those that do leave their homes do so knowing they may not survive.

Brazil is an impoverished nation full of favelas even in Sao Paulo. The public health crisis in brazil is magnified by the squalor alot of people live in there.

Brazil has seen its largest ever daily increase in its coronavirus death toll, despite erroneous suggestions from President Jair Bolsonaro that the worst of the crisis was over.

Brazil – which is now considered a major global centre of the pandemic – reported 633 Covid-19 deaths on Tuesday, taking its total to nearly 8,000.

Three of Brazil’s 27 states this week announced the country’s first official lockdown measures to try to slow the spread of the disease.

Brazil sees record daily death toll

Brazil, the hardest-hit country in Latin Amerca by the coronavirus crisis, has reported 751 new deaths, bringing its total to nearly 10,000

Coronavirus pandemic: Is Brazil the new epicenter?

Scientific models have suggested more people may be infected with COVID-19 in Brazil than in the US. Politicians are divided about what to do, but experts say none has an effective strategy.

The revolving door continues in the Brazilian cabinet:

Brazil's Bolsonaro sees second health minister quit in a month

Brazil's health minister has resigned after less than a month in the job following disagreements over of the government's handling of the country's escalating coronavirus crisis.

Nelson Teich had criticised a decree issued by President Jair Bolsonaro allowing gyms and beauty parlours to reopen.

His predecessor was sacked after disagreeing with Mr Bolsonaro.

The far-right president continues to oppose lockdown measures.

He has downplayed the virus as "a little flu" and has said the spread of Covid-19 is inevitable, attracting global criticism.

Coronavirus: Brazil overtakes Spain and Italy as new cases grow

Officials on Saturday reported 14,919 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 233,142. Only the US, Russia and the UK have higher numbers.

The daily death toll in the Latin American nation rose by 816 to 15,633 - the world's fifth highest.

Experts warn that the real figure may be far higher due to a lack of testing.

The mayor of the country's most populous city, São Paulo, warned on Sunday that the city's health system could collapse. Bruno Covas said the public hospitals in the city reached 90% capacity for emergency beds, with demand still growing.

That is mostly thanks to having an ostrich as president.

That is mostly thanks to having an ostrich as president.

I know lot's of people in Brazil who only voted for him because he was the best of the worst. Now that they are realizing he is stupid enough to kill everyone in Brazil with his incompetence his support is dwindling.

He thought he had endless support because he won presidency but he is one Covid-19 boondoggle away from a military coup.

Brazil needs a new motto.

Its current one, Ordem e progresso (Order and progress), isn't exactly accurate.

But again, Jair Bolsonaro has a different definition of order and progress from all other Brazilians.

Ordem e progresso hasn't been the case in decades.
