Metrolinx is so scared of screwing something up...
What’s there to screw up? ML should have done confidence. The yard is like a smaller version of Leslie Barns. Most of the trackage is like what the TTC rebuilt on Queensway. This city has the talent to build a LRT line. There isn’t an advanced signaling system on this line. They should be able to compare to see if the line is up to standard.

Took a trip to finch today to do some photo shooting as well video, but a wasted time as nothing was on line.

On the other hand, a lot of curb work as well sidewalk work was taking place on both side of the street along with brick laying on the southside. The area for the CP underpass for the whole block still needs curb and sidewalk on the southside as well some retaining work.

As we crawl that one block, I had a look the retaining wall and posts areas and surprised that the City did get ML to rebuild it during the construction of the line as a fair number of areas need rebuilding now. No idea about the northside, but expect curb and sidewalk need to be done.

Gave up at 400 as I saw it would be a waste and most likely find work taking place there. I am assuming where red paint has been place at a number of locations will see new paint before the line opens as they are very faded or non existing.

I don't expect to see the line open until November at the earliest now to mid December now, though October was a talking date. No photos for the trip.

Bet theyre still "investigating" the fire that broke out last month

What happened to the grass trackbed? Last I heard the TTC was open to testing it on Eglinton and Metrolinx built it and that it would eventually be extended to other streetcar ROWs. Seeing that they didnt do it on Finch gives me little hope that they'll do it on Queens Quay as was originally intended.

Both Finch and Eglinton are sole Metrolinx project with no control from the TTC. The city/TTC can decide if they want grass ROW or not for Queens Quay. However I'm having doubts since the TTC paved over Queensway and all streetcar yards claiming tracks were misaligning from their set gauge dimensions without fix concrete.
