Finch West Line 6 LRT

Ah, does this trigger the contractual stuff with the union about new divisions?
From my understanding an agreement was made between TTC and ATU during the previous contract (arbitrator ruling)that was carried forward into this contract to not go through with a master sign up for these divisions. Saves a lot of money for TTC.

How far in advance is signup usually done? It seems a bit early nearly 3 months beforehand.
They are required by the CBA to put up the new crewing sheets about 4 weeks before the board period begins. Signup itself then takes another 10 days or so.

So no, they don't put sheets up 3 months in advance. That doesn't happen.

For a project that's "finished" it's funny seeing contractors parked on the tracks working on this or that every time I drive past the line

A lot of sidewalk repairs going on currently, and I suspect there will be a good deal of road repairs this spring/summer on top of the main works by the CP rail bridge.

Drove across Finch on Sunday. Lots of the LRT's on the tracks doing the training. Drivers with trainers standing by them.

April 8
Took a drive on Finch from 27 to the 400 and lots of work still going on and to be done. Various locations were seeing sidewalk replace or added. New sidewalks work underway west of the creek with the area being dug up to be able to built the sidewalk. A few small areas of road close with no one there and hard to say why.

14 LRV's on the line as far as the 400 and the most I seen period. 3 out of the 4 stations I past had LRV's sitting at the station for some reason. Shortly after I park where I normal park to get shots, movement of the 14 LRV's started. The camera I used for videos die for some reason and only got one video with the DSLR that I hate using.

The LRV's where hokey as they are about to leave the station or cross an intersection

Either I miss the notices on the doors for the few I have seen or something new

I was out on Finch today near Highway 27 and logged 11 different trams out testing.

They were running quite regularly until about 13:00, then things seemed to come to a halt.

The two last westbound cars sat for a long time waiting to enter the Humber College tunnel, then set up to reverse eastwards on the north (westward) track. I was not able to hang around long enough to see if they did operate ACOT, but on driving east I encountered the next car turning back through the turnouts west of Albion. One or two earlier trams had gone into the tunnel but did not reappear before my departure. Don't know if something broke somewhere, or if this was a deliberate test or training exercise.

I noticed that some cars have had their coupler shrouds removed, while others have not. Considerable use of both horn and bell (they have both).

Call me crazy, but I am not impressed with the new traffic signage either on Finch or on Eglinton. Seems like cognitive overload for motorists, and mostly intended so that the cops can ask, "Didn't you see the sign?" after the inevitable mishap. Too many signs, not well placed, I'm not sure that it conveys the most important message: Don't drive down the tracks! I did see one car misjudge and start to enter the track lane, realised their error and backed out.
